Town of Veteran Historical Society
Meeting Minutes
Saturday July 17, 2010
Members present: Janice Ingersoll, Rick Smith, Bob & Josephine Roemmelt, Gloria Campbell & Shirley Lant
Rick Smith made a correction to treasury report of 15 May 2010.  The true report was $3354.87.  Rick then talked about the work being done in the cemeteries in the Town of Veteran.  They take pictures of grave stones and eventually will place them in albums as documentary proof of where deceased citizens of the Town of Veteran are buried.
Shirley Lant reported about work on the Town of Veteran quilt.  She said it will take a lot of time to complete as Pat Dibble is having a lot of health problems.
J. Arthur Kieffer, County Historian was the featured speaker.  He talked about the creation of the Junction Canal, and showed a film of the various scenes along the canal that still exist today.  He has put together a book of pictures, maps and history of the canal creation.  Cost for the book is $16.00
The final discussion centered around the idea for having the Town of Veteran Historical meetings in the evening rather than Saturday afternoon.  It was decided it would be brought up at the next meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday 18 September 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veteran Town Hall.
Respectfully Submitted,
Janice Ingersoll, Secretary
